One of the first projects I got excited about when planning this trip was video vignettes that captured the feel of the cities I planned to live in. I knew I had to start with Boston, the city I've lived in for the past 7 years, but there was one small problem... I've never made a video before. Not even a high-school movie maker situation. Nothing. I had no idea where to start! Luckily, one of my very own best friends is a videographer. Here is what he told me:
Take as much footage as humanly possible.
So I proceeded to start taking as many videos on my iPhone as humanely possible. I was freaking out a bit about shooting on my iPhone but when push came to shove, I had no idea what I was doing and no money. A fancy camera won't make me good at shooting.
When it came time to start editing, I was even more lost than when I started. I began piecing things together in a crazy mish-mash. It wasn't good but it was fun. It was a totally new way of creative thinking.
Jason swooped in to pull it all together in the end, show me the proper way of setting up files, editing techniques, all of that very important stuff. So here is to hoping I become a better editor over the next year! Endless thanks to Jason for his patience and help on this one.
